Description
NinjaOne SaaS Backup empowers you to restore or download your OneDrive data easily. Follow the instructions below to get started.
Restore OneDrive
To restore data from a user’s OneDrive:
- Log in to the NinjaOne SaaS Backup End-User Portal and navigate to the dashboard.
- Select the OneDrive tab.
- Move your cursor over the user listing and click Restore.
- Configure Restore Options:
- Backup Date: Restore files and folders as they existed on the selected date.
- Destination: Choose the original user’s drive or another user’s drive within the same tenant.
- Default Folder: Restores data to its original location.
- Create New Folder: Specify a new folder for the restored data.

Advanced Options for File Conflicts:
- Create (Default): Restores files as duplicates.
- Append: Adds a new version to the existing file.
- Overwrite: Replaces existing files with the restored version.
- Skip: Skips conflicting files.
- Choose Start Restore and confirm by clicking Yes.
- Choose the user’s name, select the items, and proceed with the options above.
You can track the progress of the restore at System Status → Restores.
Download OneDrive Data
To download data from a user’s OneDrive, follow these steps:
- Log in to the NinjaOne SaaS Backup End-User Portal and navigate to Dashboard → OneDrive.
- Move your cursor over the user name and choose Download.
- Select the date for the download to access files as they existed on that date.
- Choose Generate Download and confirm.
To download only certain files or folders, select the user’s name, select the desired items, and follow the steps above. You have the option to download either the latest version or all previous versions of the selected items.
You can monitor download status at System Status → Downloads.

Does the system support OneDrive permission restoration?
Yes. Permissions are indicated with a key icon on the UI.
Clicking the key icon provides detailed information about the permissions, including direct access or access link specifics.
Will the files have the same permissions as the associated folder?
The answer depends on how you have set permissions:
- If permission is set only on the folder, all associated files inherit the permissions (inheritance flow).
- If permission is set on a child file first and then another permission is added to the parent folder, the folder will have one permission, while the child file will retain two permissions.
